I actually have a talent with reading fast . Yes it is a good thing but there are some not so good things with reading so quickly. I've been speed reading since I was about in 4th grade. I've always had an advantage of finishing books beofre my other classmates. For example, when we are reading a story in reading class and have to answer questions afterwards. While everyone else is still reading I am working on the questions since I already finished reading. Getting my work done much faster.
Yes that is a good thing but reading fast isn't always great. When a teacher calls on me to read aloud people find it difficult to understand what I'm saying. It just sounds like a bunch of words smushed together. I try to read more slowly but that just gets boring for me and the words don't process in my head like they do when I read fast. Reading quickly is something I'm good at and like to do. Just other people don't feel the same.
